On June 21, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng met with visiting Special Envoy of President and Minister of Presidential Affairs Mayiik Ayii Deng of South Sudan.

Mayiik Ayii Deng delivered a letter from President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan to President Xi Jinping. Both sides exchanged views on China-South Sudan relations and other issues of common concern.
