On July 8, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held strategic dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of China and Egypt in Beijing with Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry of Egypt who was in China for the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF).
Wang Yi expressed that China attaches importance to the significant influence of Egypt as a major Arab state and African state, and is committed to consolidating and developing China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership and deepening long-term, stable and mutually beneficial China-Egypt cooperation. Under the new situation, both sides should maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges and give full play to the important leading roles of the two heads of state in bilateral relations. China is willing to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Egypt, and welcomes Egypt to participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road, and deepen cooperation in various fields including production capacity, economy and trade, people-to-people and cultural engagement as well as security. Both sides should strengthen coordination in international and regional affairs, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and boost greater development of the construction of the CASCF and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Sameh Shoukry expressed that the people of Egypt and China enjoy profound friendship, and both sides have developed close bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect and mutual trust. Egypt is ready to, together with China, strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, and intensify communication and coordination in multilateral affairs. The Egyptian side appreciates China's long-term and important role in promoting peace and stability in the Middle East and the development of Africa, and stands ready to actively participate in cooperation under the frameworks of the Belt and Road, the CASCF and the FOCAC.
