On July 9, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-hosted the third meeting of the political and diplomatic sub-committee of China-Saudi Arabia high-level joint committee in Beijing with Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir of Saudi Arabia, who came to China to attend the 8th Ministerial Meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF).
Wang Yi expressed that Saudi Arabia is an Arab country that has important influence and also a significant emerging market economy in the world. China supports Saudi Arabia in following a development path which suits its national conditions and has its own characteristics, supports Saudi Arabia in making and implementing the "Vision 2030", and supports Saudi Arabia in promoting reform and dedicating to the modernization of Muslim. Since the second meeting of China-Saudi Arabia high-level joint committee, bilateral relations have scored many new achievements, with intensified high-level exchanges between both countries, steadily advanced key projects and continuously enhanced practical cooperation. In the next stage, both sides should further deepen political mutual trust, deeply align the Belt and Road Initiative with "Vision 2030" of Saudi Arabia, well utilize the important platform of the high-level joint committee to coordinate and push forward bilateral practical cooperation in various fields, and expand cooperation between the two countries in energy, economy and trade, investment, infrastructure construction and production capacity, in a bid to propel the development of China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership towards a higher level, wider range and deeper degree.
Wang Yi noted that China and Saudi Arabia should also expand coordination and cooperation in international affairs, and jointly promote exchanges among different civilizations. China will actively support Saudi Arabia in hosting the G20 summit in 2020, and is willing to share the successful experience in hosting the Hangzhou summit with Saudi Arabia. China stands ready to, together with Saudi Arabia, well host the 8th CASCF Ministerial Meeting to be held tomorrow, and promote the meeting to achieve a complete success, so as to inject new impetus into bilateral strategic cooperation.
Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir expressed that Saudi Arabia regards China as one of the most important strategic cooperation partners, and is satisfied with bilateral cooperation in various fields at present. Saudi Arabia abides by the one-China principle, and supports China's stance on the South China Sea issue. Saudi Arabia actively supports the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, believes that it is an initiative for win-win cooperation, and hopes to become one of the major participants of the joint construction of the Belt and Road. The "Vision 2030" of Saudi Arabia highly matches with the Belt and Road Initiative. The Saudi Arabian side is willing to align the two proposals, take it as an opportunity to reinforce bilateral cooperation in such fields as energy, mining, economy and trade, investment and tourism, and conduct trilateral cooperation in Africa.
Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir said that Saudi Arabia and China share extensive common grounds and common interests in international affairs. Both sides adhere to respect for all countries' sovereignty, non-interference in domestic affairs of other countries, and maintenance of international law and order. Saudi Arabia welcomes China to play a greater role in the Middle East and the Gulf region, and stands ready to, together with China, intensify cooperation in de-extremization, and further strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs. Saudi Arabia believes that under the joint efforts of all parties, the 8th CASCF Ministerial Meeting will surely achieve a complete success.
After the meeting, the two sides signed the implementation of the work of the political and diplomatic sub-committee of China-Saudi Arabia high-level joint committee.
