On July 9, 2018, Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee Yang Jiechi met with Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir of Saudi Arabia in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi expressed that led by President Xi Jinping and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership is at the best period in history. China has always regarded Saudi Arabia as a priority in its diplomacy towards the Middle East and an important cooperation partner in the joint construction of the Belt and Road. The two sides should further enhance political mutual trust, strengthen the alignment of development strategies and intensify communication and coordination in international and regional affairs.

Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir expressed that China is an important strategic partner of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia has always developed its relations with China from a strategic height and long-term perspective. Saudi Arabia would like to work with China to well implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance the alignment between the Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia and the Belt and Road Initiative, and promote Saudi Arabia-China exchanges and cooperation in all fields.
