From September 13 to 14, 2018, the Chinese Government Representative and Vice Foreign Minister Le Yucheng visited Turkey. Le Yucheng expressed that as the current international situation is undergoing complex changes, and unilateralism, protectionism and power politics become prominent, China and Turkey should work together to overcome the difficult period. Le Yucheng stressed that the Chinese government firmly supports Turkey in safeguarding national security and legitimate rights and interests, firmly supports Turkey in following a development path that is in line with its national conditions, and firmly supports deepening China-Turkey strategic cooperation. China and Turkey should well implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during their meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, strengthen political mutual trust, jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative, and constantly promote cooperation between the two countries in such fields as economy, trade, infrastructure, finance, energy and tourism, in a bid to elevate China-Turkey strategic cooperative relations to new highs.

The Turkish side noted that it attaches great importance to the relations between the two countries and thanked the Chinese side for its firm support. The Turkish side stands ready to actively participate in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and looks forward to deepening and expanding cooperation with the Chinese side in an all-round way, jointly combating terrorism in all forms and breaking a new ground of Turkey-China relations.
