On June 15, 2019 local time, President Xi Jinping met with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey in Dushanbe.
Xi Jinping pointed out that I attach great importance to China-Turkey relations and am ready to work with Mr. President to turn bilateral friendship into mutual trust between the two countries and push for the opening of new chapters in China-Turkey strategic cooperative relations. Under the current circumstances, the two sides should firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns and strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation. Turkey is a traditional country along the Silk Road. We are ready to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the Turkish side within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Both China and Turkey are important members of the G20. The two sides should strengthen communication and coordination in the G20 and other multilateral areas.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed with President Xi Jinping's opinions, stressing that Turkey attaches great importance to relations with China and is willing to intensify high-level exchanges between the two countries and expand cooperation in a wide range of fields such as economy, trade, finance and infrastructure construction. The Belt and Road Initiative carries great significance to Turkey, and the Turkish side is willing to actively participate in the joint construction and cooperation.
