On July 18, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong attended the National Day reception held by the Egyptian Embassy in China at invitation and addressed the event.

In his remarks, Chen Xiaodong expressed his congratulations on the National Day of Egypt. He noted that China and Egypt have enjoyed a time-honored history of friendship. In recent years, under the leadership and strong guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, China and Egypt have established the comprehensive strategic partnership, enhanced political mutual trust, expanded practical cooperation, further intensified people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and maintained close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Egyptian side to implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State, and jointly build the Belt and Road Initiative to elevate the relations and cooperation between China and Egypt, between China and Arabian countries and between China and Africa to new highs.

Chen Xiaodong also exchanged views with Egyptian Ambassador to China Osama Elmagdoub on China-Egypt relations and other topics.
