On September 25, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with Osama Elmagdoub, the Egyptian Ambassador to China who is to leave his post.

Chen Xiaodong spoke positively of Osama Elmagdoub's contributions to promoting the development of China-Egypt relations during his tenure and hoped that he would continue to care for and support the cause of China-Egypt friendship in the future. Speaking highly of Egypt-China relations, Osama Elmagdoub thanked the Chinese side for its strong support during his term of office and said he would continue to be committed to promoting Egypt-China friendship.
