Wang Yi Meets with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)

On September 26, 2019 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi said, not long ago, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid a successful state visit to China, during which the leaders of the two countries reached the important consensus on the development of bilateral relations and outlined the blueprint for China-UAE relations in the new era. The current international and regional situation is increasingly complex. As comprehensive strategic partners, China and the UAE should further deepen strategic communication and strengthen strategic coordination. The Chinese side firmly supports the UAE side's efforts to safeguard sovereignty and security. The two sides should continue to steadily push forward the landmark cooperation projects including the China-UAE Industrial Capacity Cooperation Demonstration Zone, deepen practical cooperation and provide inexhaustible impetus for the in-depth development of China-UAE relations. The two sides should carry forward their fine traditions and continue to deepen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan asked Wang Yi to convey the greetings from Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the Chinese leaders. He thanked the Chinese side for receiving the Crown Prince's visit to China with high-standard arrangement not long ago. He said, the UAE side attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is proud of the development achievements in UAE-China relations in recent years. The UAE side looks forward to working with the Chinese side to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan said, the UAE side will continue to firmly support the Chinese side's legitimate position on issues concerning its sovereignty, security and other core interests, and is willing to work with the Chinese side to take preventive measures to oppose and combat separatism, extremism and terrorism, and safeguard peace and stability of respective countries and regions.

Both sides exchanged views on the current situation in the Gulf region.
