On December 5, 2019, Assistant Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong met with newly-appointed Egyptian Ambassador to China Mohamed El Badry.

Chen Xiaodong welcomed Mohamed El Badry on his assumption of the new post in China. He said, the Chinese side attaches great importance to developing relations with Egypt, and is willing to make joint efforts with the Egyptian side to well implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, strengthen bilateral practical cooperation in various areas and elevate China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to new highs.

Feeling honored to be Ambassador to China, Mohamed El Badry stressed, the Egyptian side equally values developing relations with China and firmly supports the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative. Egypt is willing to work with the Chinese side to strengthen cooperation in various fields including economy, trade, production capacity and people-to-people and cultural engagement to push bilateral relations for greater development.
