On July 7, 2020, Director-General of the Department of West Asian and North African Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wang Di held a briefing for Chinese and foreign media, briefing on the ninth ministerial meeting of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF). Over 10 Chinese and foreign media outlets including Bloomberg News, Asahi Shimbun, Al Jazeera, Chinese Arabic Television, Xinhua News Agency, CCTV and Phoenix TV attended the briefing.

Wang Di introduced the meeting's background, main situation and important outcomes, saying that in the context of the current global challenges brought about by the pandemic, the convening of this ministerial meeting as scheduled is of great significance and far-reaching impact. President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the meeting, expressing expectations and rising requirements for China-Arab states relations in the next step and the building of a China-Arab community with a shared future. State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a keynote speech, during which he expounded on China's policies and propositions on enhancing solidarity and coordination between China and Arab states, firmly supporting each other, upholding multilateralism, jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, and promoting political dialogue, put forward a series of new suggestions on the CASCF's development and called on both China and Arab states to implement the building of a China-Arab community with a shared future in a down-to-earth manner and make unremitting efforts for the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. The meeting adopted three outcome documents, namely the joint statement of China and Arab states on solidarity against COVID-19, the Amman declaration of the CASCF ninth ministerial meeting, and the execution plan for 2020-2022 of the CASCF. All participants reached important consensus on China-Arab solidarity in fighting COVID-19, building a China-Arab community with a shared future, major international and regional issues and the way forward for cooperation in various fields in the next two years. Arab states reiterated their firm support for the Chinese side on issues related to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Xinjiang and regarding the Chinese side's core interests and major concerns. Wang Di also answered questions from journalists on issues including holding a China-Arab summit, joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Arab states, China-Arab states cooperation in COVID-19 response, and restoration of work and production.
