On July 21, 2020, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun attended and addressed the reception held by the Saudi Arabian Embassy in China to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of China-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations.

Zhai Jun congratulated on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Saudi Arabia, saying that in recent years, President Xi Jinping and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud have successfully exchanged visits, and the two countries have established comprehensive strategic partnership and set up the China-Saudi Arabia High-level Joint Committee, injecting new and strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations in the new era. In the face of COVID-19, China and Saudi Arabia have rendered support to each other, composing a new chapter in the fight against COVID-19. The Chinese side is ready to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to constantly enhance political mutual trust and deepen practical cooperation with the Saudi Arabian side to jointly usher in a better future for China-Saudi Arabia relations.

Zhai Jun also exchanged views with Saudi Arabian Ambassador to China Turki Mohammed Al-Madi on bilateral relations and other topics.
