On May 18, 2021, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun attended the Bilateral Relation Webinar of the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties between China and Egypt. In his remarks, Zhai Jun reviewed the development of relations between China and Egypt, and emphasized China-Egypt cooperation faces new opportunities. China stands ready to work with Egypt to take the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties as an opportunity to implement the important consensus between President Xi Jinping and President Abdul Fatah Al-Sisi and lift the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level.
Assistant Foreign Minister of Egypt Tariq Al-Wasmi expressed, Egypt-China relations are based on mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity and mutual support for safeguarding respective national interests. The brotherly friendship in the difficult times is vividly reflected in the joint combating against the pandemic. Egypt appreciates China's support for its fight against COVID-19. Under the guidance of the two heads of state, the bilateral relationship will make greater progress.
The day of May 30, 2021 marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Egypt. The webinar was co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, the China-Arab Research Center on Reform and Development, and the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs. Senior diplomats, experts and scholars from China and Egypt held in-depth discussions on synergy of Chinese and Egyptian development strategies and China-Egypt cooperation in the post-pandemic era.
