
On June 1, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Ambassador of Ethiopia to China Tefera Derbew Yimam upon invitation.
Miao Deyu stated that China attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Ethiopia. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, bilateral ties have continued to deepen, yielding fruitful outcomes in practical cooperation. China supports Ethiopia’s stable development and is ready to work with Ethiopia to further enhance political mutual trust, leverage policy dividends such as zero-tariff treatment, promote high-quality development of practical cooperation, and better benefit the peoples of both countries.
Tefera Derbew Yimam stated that China has long provided firm support for Ethiopia’s economic and social development, for which Ethiopia expresses its heartfelt gratitude. The all-weather strategic partnership between the two countries is deeply rooted and holds broad prospects. As Ethiopia is currently holding its seventh General Election, a new government will be smoothly formed. Ethiopia stands ready to work with China to effectively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, deepen practical cooperation bilaterally and under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and make new contributions to building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era.
