On August 23, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi, who was accompanying King Abdullah II on his visit to China.
Wang Yi noted that President Xi Jinping cherishes the friendship and mutual trust established with King Abdullah II. This is King Abdullah II’s first visit to China in 11 years. China believes that this visit will be a full success, further strengthen strategic mutual trust between the two countries, consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, promote all-round mutually beneficial cooperation, and become a new milestone in the development of bilateral relations. China appreciates Jordan’s firm commitment to a friendly policy toward China and its adherence to the one-China principle, and will continue to support Jordan in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China is ready to work with Jordan to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, and lay the foundation and inject impetus for the next 50 years of China-Jordan relations.
Wang Yi noted that the current situation in the Middle East remains complex and severe. Jordan is an important country in the Middle East with unique influence on the development of the regional situation. The Palestinian question is at the core of the Middle East issue and should not be marginalized or instrumentalized. China calls on all parties to maintain communication and dialogue, work to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, and ease the humanitarian situation on the ground. China will continue to support Jordan in playing a positive role on the Palestinian question and other issues. China is a sincere partner that Jordan can trust and rely on. China will firmly stand on the right side of history and on the side of the just position of Arab countries, and work for the early realization of peace and stability in the Middle East.
Ayman Safadi thanked the Chinese side for the warm and thoughtful arrangements for King Abdullah II’s visit to China. He noted that Jordan attaches great importance to its relations with China, and this visit will give a strong boost to the strategic partnership between the two countries. Jordan firmly adheres to the one-China principle and recognizes the Government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the whole of China. This position remains unchanged. Jordan is ready to work with China to translate the common understandings of the two heads of state and the positioning of the strategic partnership into practical actions, and deepen cooperation in various fields. Jordan highly appreciates the active and responsible role China has played on Middle East issues, particularly its firm support for the “two-state solution” on the Palestinian question. Jordan is ready to maintain close communication and coordination with China to promote lasting peace and stability in the region.
