
On 17 April 2023, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Korean Peninsula Affairs Liu Xiaoming held talks with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko in Moscow. The two sides had an in-depth discussion on the Korean Peninsula issue, China-Russia relations, and regional and international issues of mutual interest.
Liu and Rudenko agreed that Chinese President Xi Jinping's successful state visit to Russia has injected fresh impetus into the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for the new era. The two sides will implement the common understandings reached between the two presidents and further enhance China-Russia strategic coordination in various fields.
The two sides shared the view that maintaining peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia serves the common interests of all parties. They urged the parties concerned to keep to the direction of political settlement and address each other's concerns, especially the legitimate concerns of the DPRK, in a balanced manner through dialogue. They will stay in close communication and jointly promote political settlement through the dual-track approach by working for phased and synchronized progress. The two sides called on relevant parties to echo their efforts in promoting peace and dialogue and play a constructive role in the political settlement process.
