Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong Attends the Opening Ceremony of ASEAN-China Week 2023

On August 6, 2023, Assistant Foreign Minister Nong Rong attended and addressed the opening ceremony of ASEAN-China Week 2023 in Fuzhou City, Fujian Province.

Nong Rong said that thanks to the strategic guidance and personal commitment of President Xi Jinping and leaders of ASEAN countries, the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership enjoys a sound momentum of development, and bilateral cooperation in various fields has continued to deepen and yielded fruitful results. Since its establishment, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) has made full use of its advantages as a bridge, bond and platform, and made important contributions to promoting practical cooperation and people-to-people bonds between China and ASEAN. Fujian has deepened all-round exchanges and cooperation with ASEAN in such fields as economy and trade, industry, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, which has added new impetus to the development of China-ASEAN relations. China has always followed the neighborhood diplomacy guideline that advocates amity, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, and is willing to remain committed to win-win cooperation with ASEAN and build a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home together.

Secretary-General of ACC Shi Zhongjun chaired the opening ceremony, and Governor of Fujian Province Zhao Long, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee Lin Jinbao, Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos Sommath Phonsayna, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia KUNG Phoak, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community Satvinder Singh, and Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The participants spoke highly of the development of China-ASEAN relations and agreed that the two sides have broad space for cooperation in advancing regional economic integration, digital connectivity, green and low-carbon development, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and other aspects. Nearly 300 people attended the meeting, including government officials, think tank experts and media representatives from China and ASEAN countries as well as diplomatic envoys of ASEAN countries to China.

The ASEAN-China Week 2023 was hosted by the ACC as well as the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Fujian Province and the Fuzhou Municipal People's Government.
