On September 13, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong met with new President of the Japan-China Friendship Center Yuji Miyamoto and his delegation. The two sides had an exchange of views on China-Japan relations and issues of mutual interest and concern.

Sun Weidong expressed his hope that the Japan-China Friendship Center will uphold the belief in China-Japan friendship, dedicate itself to the cause of friendship between the two countries, promote exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the fields of civil affairs, people-to-people and cultural aspects as well as at sub-national levels, and continuously inject positive energy into the improvement and development of China-Japan relations.
