On October 8, 2024, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Pakistani Ambassador to China Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi. Khalil-ur-Rahman Hashmi said, a convoy of a Chinese project was attacked in Karachi at night local time on October 6, and the incident resulted in deaths and injuries of both Chinese and Pakistanis. The Pakistani side is deeply shocked and saddened by that, and strongly condemns this terrorist act. The Pakistani side's deepest condolences and thoughts are with the victims' families. The Pakistani side has started the work to rescue the injured, handle the aftermath and investigate the incident. The Pakistani side will do its utmost to improve security measures, enhance counter-terrorism and security cooperation with China, and strengthen safety and security guarantees for Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan. Liu Jinsong requested the Pakistani side to earnestly fulfill its commitments, make every effort to rescue the injured and handle the aftermath, get to the bottom of the incident, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
