Xi Jinping Exchanges Congratulatory Messages with Myanmar's Leader Min Aung Hlaing on the 75th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations

On June 8, 2025, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Myanmar's leader Min Aung Hlaing to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations.

Xi Jinping noted that over the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the "pauk-phaw" friendship between China and Myanmar has stood the test of time and grown even stronger. The two countries have jointly advocated the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and the Bandung Spirit, upheld good-neighborliness and friendship, deepened mutually beneficial cooperation, and firmly supported each other on issues concerning their respective core interests and major concerns, setting a fine example of friendly exchange between countries.

Xi Jinping stressed his meeting with Min Aung Hlaing in Russia in May this year, during which they reached important common understandings on building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future. China attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Myanmar and stands ready to work with Myanmar to take the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation at a faster pace, jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and continuously push for solid progress in building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples.

Min Aung Hlaing said that President Xi's historic visit to Myanmar in 2020 opened a new chapter in building a Myanmar-China community with a shared future. Not long ago, Myanmar was struck by a strong earthquake. The Chinese government and people offered humanitarian assistance promptly, fully demonstrating the deep friendship between the two peoples in standing together through thick and thin and helping each other in times of difficulty. Min Aung Hlaing recalled that he and President Xi held a fruitful meeting in Moscow and reached important common understandings on deepening Myanmar-China strategic cooperation. He expressed gratitude to China for its firm support for Myanmar's efforts to achieve peace and stability, national reconciliation and economic development. He looks forward to accelerating cooperation between the two countries across various fields and forging a stronger, more resilient and mutually beneficial partnership.

On the same day, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council exchanged congratulatory messages with Min Aung Hlaing. Li Qiang said that over the past 75 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, thanks to joint efforts from both sides, significant progress has been made in friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Li Qiang said he is willing to work with Min Aung Hlaing to deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries and advance solid progress in building a China-Myanmar community with a shared future, so as to inject new momentum into the development of their respective countries. Min Aung Hlaing said that under the guidance of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, steady growth has been achieved in Myanmar-China relations. He expressed that Myanmar is willing to work with China to jointly advance the building of a Myanmar-China community with a shared future to better benefit the two peoples.
