On July 16, 2025, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with Chief Minister of the Embassy of Japan in China Yokochi Akira to lodge serious protests over the erroneous and negative statements related to China in Japan's new edition of Defense White Paper released on July 15.
