On the afternoon of August 26, 2025, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met with Special Envoy of the Republic of Korea (ROK) President Park Byeong-seug in Beijing.

Zhao Leji stated that President Xi Jinping and President Lee Jae-myung have reached important common understandings on deepening the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China is ready to make joint efforts with the ROK to uphold mutual respect, strengthen dialogue and communication, enhance understanding and mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, gather more positive energy, and promote the underlying feature of friendship, and push China-ROK relations to keep pace with the times and achieve steady and long-term development. The NPC of China is ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the National Assembly of the ROK to contribute to the sustained and positive development of China-ROK relations.

Park Byeong-seug said the new ROK government attaches great importance to developing a mature and stable ROK-China relationship. The ROK is willing to work with China to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, continuously enhance political mutual trust, strengthen friendly relations between the two peoples, bring ROK-China relations back on the right track, and jointly promote regional peace, stability and development.
