Zhao Leji Visits Viet Nam and Attends Events Marking the 80th Anniversary of the National Day of Viet Nam

From August 31 to September 2, 2025 local time, at the invitation of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee and Chairman of the National Assembly of Viet Nam Tran Thanh Man, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji led a party and government delegation to visit Viet Nam. In Hanoi, Zhao Leji met respectively with General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee To Lam, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, held talks with Tran Thanh Man, and attended events marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

When meeting with To Lam, Zhao Leji conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and extended warm congratulations on the historic achievements made in the cause of the CPV and the country over the past 80 years. Zhao Leji stated that under the new circumstances, China is ready to work with Viet Nam to fully implement the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two Parties, act in line with the overarching goals characterized by "six mores", deepen exchanges of governance practices, enhance the synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" strategy, strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two peoples, jointly advance the socialist modernization endeavors in their respective countries, and accelerate the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

To Lam asked Zhao Leji to convey his sincere greetings to General Secretary Xi Jinping, and expressed his gratitude for the tremendous assistance provided by China during various periods of Viet Nam's revolution and development. He said that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has achieved remarkable accomplishments in development, and has become a main driving force of global economic growth. Viet Nam has always regarded the development of relations with China as an objective necessity, a strategic choice and a top priority, and has consistently upheld the one-China policy. Viet Nam is willing to join hands with China on the great journey of building socialism and to jointly usher in the second golden era of Viet Nam-China relations.

When meeting with Luong Cuong, Zhao Leji conveyed President Xi Jinping's best wishes to him, noting that China and Viet Nam should respond to external uncertainties with the strengths of socialist system, uphold and strengthen the leadership of the Communist Party, firmly support each other's reform and development endeavors, leverage the exemplary role of mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and Viet Nam, jointly resist the countercurrents of unilateralism and protectionism, and defend international fairness and justice as well as the common interests of developing countries. Luong Cuong asked Zhao Leji to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. He said that the Vietnamese side is sincerely pleased with China's continuous development and growth, and is willing to continuously consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations, speed up the implementation of major landmark projects agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries, and promote the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and China to take deeper root in the hearts of the people.

When meeting with Pham Minh Chinh, Zhao Leji said that China and Viet Nam enjoy deep integration and development of industries and mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation, and have vast potential for expanding cooperation. China is ready to seek greater synergy between the development strategies with Viet Nam, enhance cooperation in traditional sectors, strengthen cooperation in emerging fields, and jointly safeguard the multilateral trading system and keep the global industrial and supply chains unimpeded. Pham Minh Chinh said that the current economic and trade cooperation between Viet Nam and China is thriving. Viet Nam is willing to promote the integrated economic development of both sides within the framework of the BRI, work for new progress in practical cooperation such as railway construction, and make positive contributions to the implementation of the global initiatives proposed by China.

During his talks with Tran Thanh Man, Zhao Leji said that the NPC of China is ready to enhance the level of institutionalized exchanges with the National Assembly of Viet Nam, learn from each other's work experience in legislation and supervision, so as to provide legal guarantees for practical cooperation between the two countries. Tran Thanh Man said that the National Assembly of Viet Nam is willing to maintain regular mutual visits and exchanges with the NPC of China, so as to advance increasingly practical and effective cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. Zhao Leji and Tran Thanh Man also attended together the first session of the China-Viet Nam joint committee between the legislative bodies, during which the two sides exchanged views on topics such as national security legislation and promoting economic, trade, as well as scientific and technological cooperation from the perspective of legislative bodies.

During his visit to Viet Nam, Zhao Leji, upon invitation, attended the ceremony held at the Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and watched the military parade, mass pageantry and grand cultural performances. The Guard of Honor of the Chinese People's Liberation Army was invited to participate in the military parade.

Zhao Leji also paid respects at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and visited Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House.
