On September 15, 2025, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Deng Xijun visited Thailand and met separately with Permanent Secretary for Defence of Thailand Sanitchanog Sangkachantra and Thai Co-Chair of the Thailand-Cambodia General Border Committee and Director-General of the Department of Border Affairs of the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters Nuttapong Praokaew. Earlier, during his attendance at the series of senior officials' meetings on East Asia Cooperation in Malaysia, Special Envoy Deng Xijun met with Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand Eksiri Pintaruchi.
Deng Xijun stated that Thailand and Cambodia are and will always be each other's neighbors, and both countries are important members of ASEAN. He expressed the hope that both sides will actively implement the consensus reached in Anning by the foreign ministers of China, Cambodia, and Thailand, resolve disputes peacefully through dialogue, and restore peace and stability in the border areas as soon as possible. China supports ASEAN in playing an active role in this regard and is ready to continue providing necessary assistance in accordance with the willingness of both sides.
The Thai side highly appreciates China's objective and impartial stance and its constructive role in promoting the deescalation of the situation.
