Wang Huning Meets with Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Harini Amarasuriya

On October 13, 2025, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Wang Huning met in Beijing with Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Harini Amarasuriya, who is in China for the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.

Wang Huning noted that in January this year, President Xi Jinping and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake provided new strategic guidance for the future development of China-Sri Lanka relations, emphasizing the need to jointly build a China-Sri Lanka community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Sri Lanka to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, deepen cooperation in various fields, including the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and promote the continuous advancement of the China-Sri Lanka strategic cooperative partnership featuring sincere mutual assistance and ever-lasting friendship. The National Committee of the CPPCC is ready to make active contributions to this end.

Harini Amarasuriya expressed congratulations on the successful hosting of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women, adding that President Xi Jinping's important address reflected China's outstanding leadership in promoting the global women's cause, which is of great significance. Sri Lanka highly values its relations with China and is willing to work with China to deepen practical cooperation in various fields such as economy, education and tourism, and elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
