On January 4, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi held the Seventh Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Beijing.

Wang Yi noted that Mohammad Ishaq Dar is the first foreign minister received by China in 2026, which highlights the unique and friendly relationship between China and Pakistan. Wang Yi expressed the hope that this visit will serve as an opportunity to kick off the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China and Pakistan are connected by mountains and rivers, intertwined in interests, bonded by friendship, and have a shared future. The two countries have forged an ironclad friendship through the tests of changing international circumstances. Mutual trust and support have consistently remained the defining features of China-Pakistan relations. Over the past year, President Xi Jinping has maintained high-level exchanges with Pakistani leaders, providing strategic guidance for bilateral relations and ensuring that the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership remains an important stabilizing factor in the regional and even the international landscape. In the new year, China is ready to work with Pakistan to implement the common understandings reached between the leaders of the two countries, strengthen strategic mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, deepen security cooperation, enhance multilateral coordination, promote the strategic partnership between China and Pakistan to reflect greater value in the current era, and accelerate the building of a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future.

Wang Yi said that the current international situation is becoming more volatile and turbulent, with unilateral bullying increasingly rampant. The sudden changes in Venezuela have drawn high attention from the international community, and the spokesperson of China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already stated China's position. China never believes that any country should act as a world policeman, nor does the Chinese side agree that any country should claim to be an international judge. The sovereignty and security of all nations should be fully protected under international law. China always opposes the threat or use of force in international relations and rejects imposing one country's will on others. China is ready to work with the international community, including Pakistan, to firmly uphold the United Nations Charter, defend the fundamental principles of international justice, adhere to the sovereign equality of all countries, jointly safeguard world peace and development, and work together to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

Mohammad Ishaq Dar conveyed the cordial greetings from Pakistani leaders to Chinese leaders, extended congratulations on the review and adoption of the recommendations for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan at the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and emphasized that China's march toward modernization serves as a vital force for safeguarding world peace and development. Friendship with China is the cornerstone of Pakistan's foreign policy and a consensus shared by all political parties and sectors of society in Pakistan. This year, the two sides will jointly witness the brotherly and ironclad friendship between the two countries over the past 75 years. Pakistan stands ready to work with China to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen the synergy of development strategies, deepen practical cooperation, and advance the continuous growth of the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. Pakistan will make all-out efforts to combat all forms of terrorism and take concrete and effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese institutions and personnel in Pakistan.

Mohammad Ishaq Dar said, Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the one-China principle and will continue to firmly support China on all issues concerning China's core interests. The current international order has been severely undermined. The Pakistani side highly commends China's commitment to multilateralism and supports the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. Pakistan is willing to work with China to strengthen multilateral cooperation and jointly address global challenges.

The two sides agreed to enhance high-level exchanges and interactions at all levels and to deepen strategic communication and action coordination. Both sides will follow through on the action plan for building a China-Pakistan community with a shared future and promptly deliver a number of early results. Both sides will advance the construction of the upgraded Version 2.0 of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and strengthen cooperation in industries, agriculture and mining. The two sides will jointly commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between both countries, and consolidate the foundation of popular support for China-Pakistan friendship. The two countries will unite the Global South to safeguard common interests. The two countries will abide by the purposes of the United Nations Charter, and oppose bullying acts that infringe upon the sovereignty of other countries.

The two sides also had comprehensive and in-depth strategic communication on international and regional issues of common interest and concern, reaching broad common understandings.

Prior to the talks, the two sides jointly unveiled the commemorative logo marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of China-Pakistan diplomatic relations and toured a photo exhibition commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.
