Xi Jinping and His Wife Warmly Bid Farewell to To Lam and His Wife

On the afternoon of April 15, 2026, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan warmly bid farewell to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee and President of Viet Nam To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, who were on a state visit to China.

Xi Jinping said that today he held in-depth and extensive talks with General Secretary and President To Lam on overarching and strategic issues of common concern and reached many new and important common understandings. He said that he deeply feels that both China and Viet Nam are socialist countries, and the two sides should continue to move forward firmly along the path defined by this course and build a community with a shared future for the socialist cause; as good neighbors sharing weal and woe, China and Viet Nam are advancing toward modernization together, and should build a community with a shared future for modernization; both sides advocate the vision of great harmony under heaven, and amid profound changes unseen in a century, should act as partners in promoting the building of a community with a shared future for humanity. He noted that To Lam would visit Guangxi the following day and would gain a deeper understanding of China. China stands ready to work with Viet Nam to put the building of the China-Viet Nam community with a shared future on the fast track.

To Lam expressed appreciation for the comradely and brotherly warm hospitality extended by General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and President Xi Jinping and the Chinese side to the high-level Vietnamese delegation. To Lam said that the Chinese side made a series of special arrangements, which demonstrated China’s special friendship with Viet Nam and deeply moved the Vietnamese side. He noted that Viet Nam-China relations are currently at their best point in history. This visit has achieved many important common understandings and signed many cooperation agreements, and so far it has been a complete success. During the visit, the Vietnamese side also witnessed the implementation and major achievements of a host of major theoretical propositions put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping. Viet Nam stands ready to work with China to fully implement the important common understandings reached during the visit, translate them into new impetus for promoting bilateral friendship and cooperation, promote greater development in both countries, and take new steps toward building a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future that carries greater strategic significance at a higher level.
