On June 17, 2026, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong held a regular work consultation in Seoul with Director-General for Northeast and Central Asian Affairs at the ROK’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nam Jin. The two sides exchanged views on China-ROK relations and issues of common concern. They agreed to actively implement the important consensus reached during the mutual visits of the two heads of state, and are committed to ensuring the steady and sustained development of the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership. Nam Jin reiterated the ROK’s commitment to the one-China stance as pledged in the the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the ROK and China, emphasizing that this stance of the ROK remains unchanged. Liu Jinsong spoke highly of this, expressing the hope and confidence that the ROK side will stay true to its original aspiration when establishing diplomatic ties, practice the one-China principle through concrete actions, and safeguard the political foundation of China-ROK relations.
