On December 2, 2021, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun attended upon invitation the 50th National Day Reception held by the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in China, and delivered a speech.

Zhai Jun congratulated the UAE on its 50th National Day in his speech, and said that in recent years, under the care and strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-UAE comprehensive strategic partnership has made great progress with solid political mutual trust, fruitful results of mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields and increasingly deepening friendship between the two peoples. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China and the UAE have carried out all-round anti-pandemic cooperation and made positive contributions to the global fight against the pandemic. China attaches great importance to developing China-UAE relations. China will work with the UAE to synergize the Belt and Road Initiative with the UAE's 50-year Development Strategy, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields to deliver concrete results, and jointly write a new chapter of China-UAE friendship.

Zhai Jun also exchanged views with the UAE Ambassador to China Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri on bilateral relations and other issues.
