From March 24 to 25, 2022, President Salva Kiir and Foreign Minister Mayik Ayii Deng of South Sudan met with Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Xue Bing, respectively. Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Hua Ning attended the activities.

The two sides mainly exchanged views on issues related to the Initiative of Peaceful Development in the Horn of Africa proposed by China and bilateral relations.

President Kiir made positive comments on the achievements made in the development of South Sudan-China relations, thanked China for its long-term support for South Sudan's economic and social development, and highly appreciated and supported China's initiative. He said that South Sudan will actively participate in the implementation of the initiative and contribute to regional prosperity, development and lasting peace and stability.
