Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong Briefed Embassies (Mission) in China on State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s Visit to Afghanistan and the Series of Meetings on the Afghan Issue

On April 25, 2022, Special Envoy on Afghan Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Yue Xiaoyong briefed foreign embassies (mission) on State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to Afghanistan and the series of meetings on the Afghan issue. Representatives from more than 20 embassies (mission), including those of Russia, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, ROK, Singapore, EU, Germany, Norway, Ireland, US, UK, Canada, attended the session online.

Special Envoy Yue Xiaoyong introduced the above-mentioned diplomatic events using four key phrases, namely “Carrying forward the Traditional Friendship”, “Strengthening Friendship and Mutual Assistance”, “Building on the Consensus of All Parties” and “Persevering in Diplomatic Efforts”. He stressed that collective wisdom and joint efforts are essential to solving the Afghan issue. China is willing to enhance communication and consultation with the international community and regional countries on the Afghan issue, so as to inject strong impetus into peace and stability of both Afghanistan and the region.

Representatives from foreign embassies (mission) spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of the series of meetings, and expressed the expectation to strengthen dialogue and coordination with China on the Afghan issue.
