On November 2, 2022, Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li met with new Ambassador of Egypt to China Assem Hanafi.

Deng Li expressed welcome to Ambassador Hanafi for his assumption of the new post.    He said that China and Egypt enjoy profound traditional friendship and the bilateral relations have witnessed rapid development in recent years. The high-level exchanges keep close and practical cooperation achieve   fruitful outcomes and with broad prospects. Both sides should follow through on the important common understanding reached by the two heads of state, continue the firm support to each other's core interests and major concerns, constantly deepen practical cooperation in various fields, and promote China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to a new high.

Hanafi expressed his congratulations on the success of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He spoke highly of China's development achievements and bilateral cooperation outcomes. He emphasized that Egypt attaches great importance to the development of Egypt-China relations. Egypt will continue its  firm support for China's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stands ready to enhance exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields, so as to work towards greater development of the Egypt-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
