Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi Talks to Senior Consular Officials of Foreign Embassies in China on the Spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress

On November 10, 2022, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Wu Xi talked to senior consular officials of embassies of 11 countries in China, namely, Cuba, Pakistan, Laos, Cambodia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Russia, Belarus, Germany, Hungary, and New Zealand on the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress.

Wu Xi talked about the decisive significance of the "two establishments" (i.e. the establishment of General Secretary Xi Jinping's core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the establishment of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the guiding ideology to be adhered to over the long term), the great changes over the past decade in the new era, the missions and tasks of the Communist Party of China on the new journey in the new era, the features and essential requirements of Chinese modernization, the philosophy of putting the people first, and major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics, among others. She noted that the people-centered development philosophy is the fundamental guideline of the consular work in the new era, and the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry firmly acts upon the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, follows Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, further resolutely safeguards the safety and security of overseas Chinese citizens, and continuously improves the level and quality of consular services, to contribute to Chinese modernization and the building of a human community with a shared future.

Consular officials of foreign embassies in China warmly congratulated on the successful convening of the 20th CPC National Congress. They said that through the talk, they had a deeper understanding of the 20th CPC National Congress, China's overall diplomatic policy, and the consular work, and had a clearer picture of China's path, experience and achievements. They believe that under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, China will definitely make greater achievements on the new journey of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects.

Wu Xi also answered consular questions of interest and concern from consular officials present.
