Wang Yi Meets with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty

On September 27, 2024 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Wang Yi conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Wang Yi said, Egypt occupies an important position in China's overall diplomacy. Under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, China-Egypt relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. During President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's successful state visit to China in May this year, the two heads of state drew a new blueprint for the future development of China-Egypt relations. China is ready to work with Egypt to deliver on the common understandings reached between the two heads of state, carry forward the fine tradition of firm support for each other, advance mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation in various fields, constantly elevate the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to new levels, and jointly stride toward the direction of building a community with a shared future.

Wang Yi said, China supports Egypt in pursuing a successful development path suited to its national conditions and in safeguarding its national sovereignty, security and development interests. China takes pleasure in seeing more capable Chinese companies invest and do business in Egypt to help the country enhance its industrialization. China appreciates Egypt's adherence to multilateralism and upholding justice in international and regional affairs, and is ready to closely coordinate and cooperate with Egypt within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, the BRICS mechanism and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, to jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries.

Badr Abdelatty asked Wang Yi to convey President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's best wishes and cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping, saying that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's visit to China was very successful and has injected new impetus into bilateral relations. Egypt-China relations are relations between two major countries and two ancient civilizations and have maintained a strong momentum of development. Egypt is ready to work with China to deliver on the common understandings reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen cooperation in various fields and make the China-Egypt Year of Partnership a success. He welcomes Chinese enterprises to continue participating in Egypt's modernization process. Both Egypt and China uphold multilateralism and are committed to safeguarding the authority of the United Nations and the basic norms governing international relations. Badr Abdelatty called on the two countries to strengthen coordination on international hotspot issues and jointly safeguard world peace and stability. He congratulated on the successful convening of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), which has taken China-Africa relations to a new height.
