On April 11, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand.

Wang Yi first conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to King Maha Vajiralongkorn, and expressed sincere condolences over the casualties and property damage caused by the earthquake in Thailand. Wang Yi said, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Thailand diplomatic relations and the "Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship". Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have always respected each other and treated each other as equals, and the bond of "China and Thailand being one family" has increasingly taken deep root in the hearts of the people.

Wang Yi said that Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, as a close friend of the Chinese people and an outstanding envoy of China-Thailand friendship, had witnessed the achievements of China's reform and opening-up in her 55 visits across China with her own eyes and personally told Thai people the vivid story of the Chinese modernization, which greatly promoted mutual understanding and affection between the two peoples. China is willing to work with Thailand to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as an opportunity, under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, to jointly open up the next golden jubilee of China-Thailand relations with greater substance, bringing more welfare to the two peoples. He expressed the hope that the Thai royal family will continue to play a special role in this endeavor.

Sirindhorn said the Thai royal family cherishes the traditional friendship with China, saying that she could experience new changes and learn new knowledge every time she visits China. The practical cooperation between Thailand and China in the fields of agriculture, science and technology, and culture has brought tangible benefits to Thailand. Thailand is willing to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand-China diplomatic relations as an opportunity to promote the in-depth development of friendly relations between Thailand and China.
