Wang Yi Meets with Kenya's Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi

On June 10, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Kenya's Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi in Changsha.

Wang Yi said that not long ago, President William Ruto made a successful state visit to China. The two heads of state defined a new positioning for the China-Kenya community with a shared future for the new era and agreed to work together to build an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future. China is ready to work with Kenya to deliver on the common understandings reached between the two heads of state, firmly support each other, enhance mutual trust, consolidate the political foundation of China-Kenya relations, continuously inject strong impetus into bilateral cooperation, and achieve more results in building the China-Kenya community with a shared future.

Wang Yi stated that the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation to be held the next day is a gathering of China and 53 African countries, which will surely strengthen the solidarity of countries in the Global South. Wang Yi expressed the belief that Kenya will contribute to the success of the meeting. Kenya is an important country in Africa and one of the representatives of the Global South. China attaches great importance to Kenya's role and influence and is ready to enhance strategic communication and coordination to jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and the basic norms governing international relations. Wang Yi congratulated Kenya on becoming a founding member of the International Organization for Mediation, and expressed the readiness to work together to better help countries, especially small and medium-sized countries, to resolve differences in an amicable and proper manner.

Musalia Mudavadi expressed gratitude to President Xi Jinping, and the Chinese government and people for their warm and friendly reception of President William Ruto, which contributes to the fruitful outcomes of the visit. The new positioning of Kenya-China relations fully demonstrates the high-level mutual trust between the two countries and the broad prospects for cooperation, setting a fine example for Africa-China relations. The commitment to the one-China principle serves as the cornerstone of Kenya's foreign policy and has received full support from the Parliament. Kenya will continue to stand firmly with China. Kenya looks forward to further deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with China, and to continuing to receive support from China in the process of achieving diversified development. Musalia Mudavadi expressed confidence that the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation will be a complete success.
