Wang Yi Meets with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono

On August 31, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Tianjin with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono at the latter's request.

Sugiono delivered President Prabowo Subianto's letter to President Xi Jinping, stating that President Prabowo Subianto is unable to visit China as scheduled due to recent domestic circumstances, and has specially appointed the Foreign Minister as his representative to attend the relevant events in China. Indonesia attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China and wishes the events a complete success. The Indonesian government will make every effort to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel and institutions in Indonesia.

Wang Yi stated that Indonesia is a friendly neighbor of China, and the two countries are not only comprehensive strategic partners but also a community with a shared future. China welcomes Foreign Minister Sugiono's participation as the representative of President Prabowo Subianto in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Wang Yi expressed understanding and respect for the adjustment made by the Indonesian government in light of its domestic needs, and hopes that Indonesia will effectively ensure the safety as well as the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese personnel and institutions in the country.
