Wang Yi Holds Talks with Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev

On October 28, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Kazakhstan's new Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev in Beijing.

Wang Yi congratulated Yermek Kosherbayev on taking office as Foreign Minister and said that under the strategic guidance and personal care of President Xi Jinping and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the China-Kazakhstan permanent comprehensive strategic partnership has been further upgraded, ushering in a new stage toward building a China-Kazakhstan community with a shared future, and has blazed a path of good-neighborly friendship and win-win cooperation. The profound friendship and strong mutual trust between the two heads of state have provided the most important strategic underpinning for the development of China-Kazakhstan relations. China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to follow through on the common understandings reached between the two heads of state, stay true to the original aspiration of improving people's well-being, and pursue the mission of achieving common development and revitalization. China will work with Kazakhstan to consolidate strategic mutual trust, carry forward everlasting friendship, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and continuously take China-Kazakhstan relations to new heights.

Wang Yi said that China has always regarded Kazakhstan as a priority in its neighborhood diplomacy and is ready to maintain high-level exchanges with Kazakhstan, continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning respective core interests, and deepen cooperation in key areas such as economy, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, mineral resources, and scientific and technological innovation, while forging closer bonds for people-to-people and cultural exchange. China commends Kazakhstan for its active role within frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the China-Central Asia mechanism, and stands ready to work with Kazakhstan to continue improving and strengthening these platforms to play a greater role in promoting regional peace and development. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Governance Initiative, and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was among the first to publicly support it. China appreciates this and is ready to work with Kazakhstan to jointly implement the four major global initiatives, keep up with the growth of the Global South, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

Wang Yi briefed Yermek Kosherbayev on the fourth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), emphasizing that China will further deepen reform comprehensively, expand high-standard opening up, and move faster to create a new pattern of development. China's high-quality development will bring more development opportunities for all countries, including Kazakhstan, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.

Yermek Kosherbayev extended congratulations on the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the successful convening of the fourth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. He said that under the leadership of the CPC, China has experienced a sea change and made significant contributions to global development. He expressed confidence that under the wise leadership of President Xi Jinping, China will surely achieve its Long-Range Objectives of building itself into a great country. The friendship between the two heads of state is a source of pride in and a prominent feature of Kazakhstan-China relations. The Kazakh side thanked China for supporting Kazakhstan in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and will continue to firmly uphold the one-China principle, and staunchly support China in safeguarding its core interests. Kazakhstan is willing to work with China to follow through on the common understandings reached between the two heads of state, maintain friendly exchanges at all levels, deepen practical cooperation across various fields, and continuously promote new and greater development of the Kazakhstan-China permanent comprehensive strategic partnership. Kazakhstan supports the four major global initiatives put forth by President Xi Jinping and will actively participate in the International Organization for Mediation and the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organization. Kazakhstan is willing to strengthen mutual support with China within frameworks such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the China-Central Asia mechanism, and the Boao Forum for Asia, to jointly promote world stability and prosperity.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
