On November 5, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

Wang Yi stated that the Chinese side attaches great importance to the development of China-Iran relations. President Xi Jinping and President Masoud Pezeshkian held a successful meeting in September this year, during which they reached important common understandings on and provided strategic guidance for deepening bilateral relations. Next year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Iran. China is ready to make joint efforts with Iran to deliver on the common understandings reached between the two heads of state, pursue common development and rejuvenation, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership to a higher level. China appreciates Iran's active support for the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, and is ready to work with Iran and the rest of the international community to make positive efforts to build a more just and equitable global governance system.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi said that Iran attaches great importance to developing relations with China and is willing to take the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year as an opportunity to enhance high-level exchanges, tap into the potential for cooperation, and maintain firm mutual support. Iran appreciates China for upholding justice in international affairs, and looks forward to maintaining close collaboration with China to jointly promote regional peace, stability and development.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the Iranian nuclear issue. Wang Yi emphasized that China has consistently upheld an objective and impartial position on the Iranian nuclear issue, noting that the current political settlement process of the Iranian nuclear issue has reached a deadlock, which is not in the common interests of the international community. China appreciates Iran's recent reaffirmation that it has no intention to develop nuclear weapons, supports Iran's right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, and hopes that all parties will maintain dialogue and communication to bring the Iranian nuclear issue back to the track of dialogue and negotiation. Seyed Abbas Araghchi sincerely thanked China for maintaining a just position on and playing a positive role in the Iranian nuclear issue, and stated that Iran is willing to enhance communication and coordination with all parties on the basis of equality and win-win results.
