On January 26, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hissein Brahim Taha in Beijing.
Wang Yi said that China and Islamic countries share a long tradition of friendly exchanges. Both have endured national hardships and the tarnishing of their civilizations throughout history, and have shared common aspirations and supported each other on the path to national liberation. As developing countries and important forces on the global stage, China and Islamic countries have consistently upheld mutual respect and support, pursued equality and mutual benefit, and achieved win-win cooperation, contributing to each other's development, revitalization, and the well-being of their peoples, and setting an example of solidarity and cooperation in the Global South. The OIC is the largest intergovernmental organization in the Islamic world and an important symbol of the unity and independence among Islamic countries. China has always attached great importance to developing relations with Islamic countries and the OIC from a strategic perspective, and appreciates the steadfast support Islamic countries and the OIC have given China on the Xinjiang-related issues and the Taiwan question. China is ready to work with Islamic countries and the OIC to strengthen political mutual trust, enhance strategic coordination, render firm mutual support, deepen practical cooperation, and jointly move towards a community with a shared future for humanity.
Wang Yi said that changes unseen in a century are accelerating across the world. China is ready to work with Islamic countries to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing nations. China opposes a return of the world to the law of the jungle, and insists that the historical injustice of the rich getting richer and the poor staying poor must come to an end. Both sides should build a development partnership, focusing on high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and further synergizing development strategies to achieve sustainable development. Both sides should build a security partnership to promote political solutions to regional hotspot issues, oppose power politics and bullying, and maintain peace and stability in the Middle East. Both sides should build a civilization partnership to strengthen dialogue between civilizations, enhance governance exchanges, and jointly resist the theory of "superiority of certain civilizations". Both sides should build a governance partnership to practice true multilateralism, uphold the core role of the United Nations and the basic norms governing international relations, and make the global governance system more just and equitable.

Hissein Brahim Taha said that Islamic civilization and Chinese civilization have long respected each other, with a time-honored history of friendly exchanges. Islamic countries and the OIC value their traditional friendship with China and express gratitude for the valuable support provided by China. The OIC upholds the one-China principle, appreciates the significant development achievements in Xinjiang, and opposes external forces interfering in China's internal affairs. Currently, some individual countries are taking regressive actions, causing global difficulties. The OIC is willing to work with China to unswervingly strengthen and deepen their partnership, increase exchanges of governance experience, maintain the positive momentum of dialogue and cooperation, deliver more benefits to the people of both sides, and jointly safeguard regional peace, stability, prosperity and development.
The two sides also exchanged views on the Palestinian question, among others. Hissein Brahim Taha expressed appreciation for China's consistent commitment to upholding justice and its positive contributions to a comprehensive, lasting, and just resolution of the Palestinian question, and expressed hope that China will continue to play a greater role.
