On April 22, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi sent a congratulatory letter to the Joint Supervisory Group on the Implementation of the “Two Agreements” (namely the Agreement on Confidence-Building in the Military Field Along the Border Areas and the Agreement on Mutual Reduction of Military Forces in the Border Areas) to mark the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Confidence-Building in the Military Field Along the Border Areas by China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
Wang Yi extended congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Confidence-Building in the Military Field Along the Border Areas. Wang Yi stated that the signing of the “Two Agreements” and the establishment of the cooperative mechanism have set a successful example for countries to enhance political mutual trust and consolidate border peace, laying a solid foundation for the region’s long-term stability and common development.
Wang Yi emphasized that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and the heads of state of the participating countries, the five nations have deepened political mutual trust, expanded pragmatic cooperation, and grown closer through people-to-people exchanges. China stands ready to work with the other participating countries to consistently uphold the spirit of the “Two Agreements”, build consensus, and stick together through thick and thin, so as to ensure the border areas continuously serve as fertile ground for intergenerational friendship, a window for people-to-people connectivity, and a bond for common development, bringing greater benefits to the people of all five countries.
