
On June 26, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Prak Sokhonn and Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who accompanied President of the Cambodian People’s Party and President of the Senate Samdech Techo Hun Sen on his visit to China.
Wang Yi stated that this morning, General Secretary Xi Jinping met with President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, reaching new strategic consensus on deepening the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era. This prompt meeting is aimed at exploring ways to translate the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries into concrete actions and advance the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Cambodia. China cherishes the China-Cambodia friendship cultivated by the older generation of leaders of the two countries and is committed to carrying it forward alongside Cambodia, making the relationship a model for China’s relations with its neighboring countries.
Wang Yi pointed out that in the face of an international landscape intertwined with changes and turmoil, we must stay firmly on the right path of our own national development. China will always be Cambodia’s most solid strategic backing, most reliable partner, and ironclad friend who shares a common destiny. Both sides should coordinate the needs of development and security, deepen cooperation in political, economic, and other fields, continuously enrich the substance of bilateral relations, and open up new prospects for building the China-Cambodia community with a shared future. China highly appreciates Cambodia’s active support for the vision of building a community with a shared future for humanity and the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping. China is willing to strengthen strategic coordination with Cambodia in international and regional affairs, safeguard the common interests of the Global South, and contribute to promoting peace and development in the region and around the world.

Prak Sokhonn stated that Cambodia attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and appreciates China’s increasingly important role in international and regional affairs. Cambodia is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance high-level exchanges, deepen strategic mutual trust, promote unity and cooperation, and jointly safeguard multilateralism and the basic norms governing international relations.

Sun Chanthol stated that Cambodia looks forward to working with China to leverage the coordinating role of the Intergovernmental Coordination Committee, strengthen the alignment of development plans, and deepen cooperation in trade, investment, infrastructure and other fields. Cambodia welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country and will spare no effort to create a safe and friendly business environment.
