Associated Press of Pakistan: Recently, the ninth CPEC Media Forum was held in a hybrid online and offline format, with officials from the governments of the two countries and media representatives in attendance. What is your comment on this?
Lin Jian: On December 24, the ninth China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Media Forum was successfully held in Pakistan. Beijing Youth Daily: The U.S. Science Magazine recently released its list of ten major scientific breakthroughs in 2025. “The seemingly unstoppable growth of renewable energy” ranked at the top, a breakthrough mainly led by China. China takes the lead in producing solar cells, wind turbines and lithium batteries. What’s your comment on this?
Lin Jian: We have noted relevant reports. This is another proof that China’s contribution to global green energy transition is widely recognized.
Green development is a distinct feature of Chinese modernization. China established the most complete policy framework for carbon emissions reduction and the largest renewable energy system in the world. Our installed capacity of new energy storage exceeded 100 million kilowatts, accounting for over 40 percent of global capacity. This makes China one of the countries with the fastest energy intensity reduction. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, wind and photovoltaic products exported by China helped relevant countries cut 4.1 billion tonnes of CO2. China actively shares the outcomes of its green development and does its best to support Global South countries. As of October this year, China has signed 55 MOUs on climate change with 43 developing countries, carried out over 300 capacity building programs, and provided over 10 thousand training opportunities for over 120 developing countries.
Against the backdrop of action deficits in global climate governance, China will continue to take on its responsibilities and work with other countries, so as to jointly cope with challenges, overcome difficulties, and advance global sustainable development together.
RT TV: The latest developments in China-India relations earlier evoked nervous reaction within U.S. Congress. Now the latest pentagon report says China probably seeks to “capitalize” on decreased tensions along the border with India to “prevent the deepening of US-India ties.” What is the U.S. trying to achieve by such claims?
Lin Jian: The Pentagon’s report distorts China’s defense policy, sows discord between China and other countries, and aims at finding a pretext for the U.S. to maintain its military supremacy. China firmly opposes the report.
China views and handles its relations with India from a strategic height and a long-term perspective. We stand ready to strengthen communication, enhance mutual trust, promote cooperation, and properly handle differences with India, and advance a sound and stable bilateral relationship. The boundary question is a matter between China and India and the current border situation between the two countries is generally stable with smooth communication channels. China opposes relevant country’s groundless and irresponsible comments.
