Q: It is reported that the Water Festival stampede in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on November 22 has caused over 600 casualties. Has China sent condolences to the Cambodian side?

A: China expresses great concern over the stampede in Phnom Penh, Capital of Cambodia on November 22 which has caused serious casualties. President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao have extended condolences to Cambodian King Sihamoni and Prime Minister Hun Sen respectively. The Red Cross Society of China has donated 50,000 US Dollars to the Cambodian Red Cross for humanitarian relief. China will also actively consider other forms of assistance to the Cambodian side based on the latter's need.
