Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ma Zhaoxu's Remarks on Chinese Fishery Administration Vessels' Patrol in the Waters off the Diaoyu Islands
Updated: August 24, 2011 13:59

Q: Two Chinese Fishery Administration Vessels reportedly entered the waters within 12 nautical miles off the Diaoyu Islands on August 24, about which Japan has lodged representations to China. What is China's comment?

A: The Diaoyu Island and its affiliated islands have been China's inherent territory since ancient times. China has indisputable sovereignty over them. Chinese Fishery Administration Vessels patrolled the waters to maintain normal orders of fishery production. China has made relevant positions clear to Japan.
