Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ma Zhaoxu's Remarks on the US Defense Department's Release of the Report on Military and Security Developments Involving the People's Republic of China 2011
Updated: August 26, 2011 13:09

Q: The US Defense Department released the Report on Military and Security Developments Involving the People's Republic of China 2011, evaluating China's military development. What is China's comment?

A: The US Defense Department releases this kind of report year after year, pointing fingers at China's rightful and normal development of national defense with exaggeration about China's military strength so as to disseminate the "China military threat theory". We firmly oppose the irresponsible behavior that does no good to the enhancement of China-US strategic mutual trust.

Sticking fast to the path of peaceful development and upholding the defense policy that is defensive in nature, China is committed to safeguarding and promoting peace, stability and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region and the world at large. The development of China's limited military force is totally for the purpose of defending national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, thus posing no threat to any other country. No country shall be concerned in this regard.
