Q: How have the Chinese and Russian sides been handling the issue of Russian Far East Border Authorities' Detention of Chinese Fishing Boats?

A: With the larger interests of China-Russia friendship in mind and in a spirit of friendly consultation, the foreign ministries of the two countries have been working closely to complete the identification documents and formalities for the detained fishermen's to return to China soon.

Honoring the principle of promoting cooperation, China and Russia have reached the following two consensus. First is to hold consultations on fishery cooperation, Russia's supply of fishing quotas in its exclusive economic zones to China and China's relevant compensation to Russia. Second is to establish a maritime law-enforcement and security cooperation mechanism to prevent illegal fishing from happening again.
