Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang's Remarks on Japan Permitting a Visit by Li Denghui
Updated: July 24, 2015 22:14

Q: According to media reports, the Japanese side recently allowed Li Denghui to visit Japan. How does China comment on this?

A: Li Denghui is an obstinate propagandist of the "Taiwan independence". In disregard of China's solemn representations, the Japanese side allowed Li Denghui to visit Japan and provided convenience for his "Taiwan independence" activities in Japan. China hereby expresses deep concern and strong dissatisfaction about this.

The Taiwan issue concerns the core interests of China. The Chinese side is constantly against any "Taiwan independence" separatist activity in the global arena done by anyone in any form, as well as providing political platform for such activity by any country. We solemnly urge the Japanese side to follow the principles of the four political documents such as the China-Japan Joint Declaration and its commitment to China, hold fast to the one-China policy, properly and prudently deal with Taiwan-related issues, and avoid installing new political barriers for the development of bilateral relations.
