Q: It is reported that the presidential election of Uzbekistan was held successfully, and initial vote-counting results show that Mirziyoyev won the election. What is your comment? Has China sent congratulations to Uzbekistan? Whats your view on China-Uzbekistan relations?

A: China congratulates Uzbekistan on its smooth election and Mr. Mirziyoyev on being elected as the new president. President Xi Jinping has sent a message of congratulations to President Mirziyoyev.

China respects the choice made by the Uzbek people and supports Uzbekistan in pursuing a development path that suits its national realities. It is believed that Uzbekistan will maintain political stability, development and prosperity and make fresh achievements in national development under the leadership of President Mirziyoyev.

As comprehensive strategic partners, China and Uzbekistan have maintained sound momentum in growing bilateral ties. China attaches great importance to its traditional friendship and all-round cooperation with Uzbekistan and stands ready to work with Uzbekistan to increase mutual support and strategic coordination, deepen cooperation relating to the Belt and Road initiative and strive to achieve new progress in bilateral ties.
