On February 7, 2023, Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu held a video meeting with the visiting delegation of Geneva-based envoys of developing countries.
Ma Zhaoxu said, China takes an active part in global human rights governance and promotes the all-round development of human rights. China is ready to carry out human rights exchanges and cooperation with other parties on the basis of equality and mutual respect, learn from each other and make common progress. Developing countries should strengthen solidarity, oppose politicization and double standards of human rights issues, and work to make global human rights governance more just, more equitable and more reasonable.
Noting that they saw China's development achievements in person during their visit to China, the envoys expressed their readiness to work with China to consolidate bilateral friendly relations and strengthen cooperation in various fields. Every country has the right to choose a democratic model and development path in accordance with the will of its people. Developing countries should be resolutely against the wrong tendency to politicize human rights issues, and uphold international fairness and justice.
